24 May Dinner Party Décor Trends for Summer 2021
With summer ahead of us and lockdown finally starting to lift, we are turning our attention to socialising for the season ahead. While for some time we’ve been unable to host dinner parties and have loved ones in our homes, we finally have the opportunity to host again.
Many of us will be making up for a lost time, going all out on our menus, decor and drinks. A lavish and luxurious dinner party is just what’s needed to celebrate this welcomed change to our social calendars. Here are a few trends to embrace, to create a luxurious, memorable and beautiful dinner party…
Colourful Blooms
While the British summer isn’t known for its wonderful weather, this year we are embracing vibrant summer shades and what nature has to offer. Come rain or shine, table settings and floral displays in bold colours will create a fun atmosphere no matter what the weather is doing. This summer’s all about having fun and embracing the fact that we can finally get together with friends and family again.
When it comes to floral displays, think big, bold and beautiful. Flowers such as peonies, hydrangeas, English garden roses, lavender, delphinium and sweet peas will create a real statement and offer a wonderful array of colours to choose from. Try oversized displays running the length of your table and large vases of flowers around the room. If you’re hosting an al fresco dinner party, displays in large pedestals at the entrance to your garden will set the scene, while tabletop blooms in bright colours will create a playful and energising mood.
All Gold Everything
This season it’s all about lavish celebrations, after all, we’ve had to hold back for months on end. Nothing looks more luxurious than gold table settings – think gold charger plates, gold cutlery, gold-rimmed cut crystal glasses and gold candlesticks. More is more in this case – have fun with your table setting and don’t hold back.
Wedding Worthy Calligraphy
As it’s been so long since we’ve been able to treat friends and family, wedding-worthy table settings are set to be big this season. Think of those extra flourishes that make a table really special – hand-painted menus, name cards and even favours will all make your table setting unique and the evening really special. When it comes to creating menus and name cards for your guests, calligraphy is a great choice to add that artistic yet organic look and feel.
